Honoring the Life and Legacy of Jordan D. Thornhill
Turning loss into purpose by empowering young people through scholarships, mentorship, and community support.
The story behind the life that inspired this foundation.
A young man full of promise, a life taken too soon, and a family determined to turn heartbreak into purpose.
Jordan D. Thornhill was a proud son of Detroit, a graduate of Renaissance High School, and a recent graduate of Michigan State University. Known for his leadership, kindness, and the way he brought people together, Jordan also became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
On the night of July 4th, Jordan attended a neighborhood block celebration in Detroit to watch and commemorate Independence Day. In the early morning hours of July 5th, around 12:45 a.m., gunfire broke out and Jordan’s life was taken far too soon.
Jordan had just graduated from Michigan State University and was preparing to begin the next chapter of his life and career.
The truth is that Jordan’s life mattered. His character, his spirit, and his impact on those around him will never be forgotten.
In the face of unimaginable loss, Jordan’s family chose to transform grief into purpose. The Jordan D. Thornhill Memorial Foundation was created to honor his life and legacy by empowering students and strengthening communities through scholarships, mentorship, and community initiatives.
Jordan’s truth now lives on through every life this foundation will touch.
